Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
