R360 League Players Subject to Decade-Long Exclusion from NRL

The rugby star earned 20 international appearances for the All Blacks before switching loyalty to the Samoan team.

The NRL's governing body has announced that players who join the “rebel” R360 competition will be barred for a decade.

The proposed competition, scheduled to begin in late 2026, is seeking to lure players from union and league with lucrative deals and a reduced fixture list.

Leading rugby league players have reportedly been approached by R360, which will include multiple men's clubs and four women's teams located in major cities around the world.

Samoa's the player, who represents the Warriors in the competition, has stated he has had talks with the new organization.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Payne Haas and Jye Gray are also reported to be thinking about signing the rebel league.

Eight major union nations, such as Australia, earlier declared a prohibition on R360 recruits participating in test matches.

“We heard our franchises and we've acted decisively,” commented ARLC chairman Peter V'Landys.

“Regrettably, there will continually be groups that try to exploit our sport for potential financial gain.

“They avoid funding in talent pipelines or the advancement of athletes. They only leverage the dedication of other organizations, jeopardizing careers of financial loss while benefiting financially.

“In truth, they represent, counterfeiting a code.”

R360 is established by former England World Cup winner Tindall and funded by independent financiers.

Following the prospective rugby union bans were declared recently, it stated: “We want to work in partnership as part of the worldwide fixture list.

“The event is designed with customized calendars for men's and women's teams and we will permit participants for test matches, as included in their contracts.”

R360 will request authorization for its initiatives from the international authority, rugby union's administrative organization, at its official gathering next year.
