The President Invites Families of Injured Military Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
