Ways these Broncos together with the malleable quarterback could end that Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games was the amount of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they kind of beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

However it proved positive to see how Denver's QB the rookie managed to have the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the defensive player of the year with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing more than four defenders instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly and did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big and new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a team that wants to run first, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass all over, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the field downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB who's similar to moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this path.

They excel at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win any game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they face because Denver {beat|def
